Six days in Domburg on the Zeeland coast: beach and dunes, Middelburg, Veere, the Delta Works and Yerseke mussels.
Zeeland, two hours’ drive from Belgium, is the sunniest province of the Netherlands, made of islands, dykes and long beaches. Your group stays five nights in Domburg, a small seaside resort at the foot of the dunes, without changing hotel. The excursions are short: Middelburg and its Gothic town hall, the little port of Veere, then the gigantic Delta Works that protect the region from the sea. In Yerseke, capital of mussels and oysters, a seafood lunch can be booked. A whole day remains free for the beach, a walk or simply rest.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Zeeland
- Departure in the morning from the place of your choice.
- Safety: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Drive to Zeeland, with regular breaks (about two hours from Brussels).
- Arrival in Domburg in the early afternoon and check-in at the hotel for 5 nights.
- Walk along the dune promenade and a first sunset over the North Sea.
- Dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Middelburg and Veere
- Guided tour of Middelburg: Market Square, town hall and abbey (on request).
- Lunch in a restaurant in Middelburg (on request).
- In the afternoon, discovery of Veere, a former trading port with fine merchants’ houses.
- Back in Domburg in the late afternoon.
Day 3: Free day in Domburg
- Free day on the beach and in the village (driver’s rest day).
- Walk in the dunes or relax on a terrace.
- Dinner at the hotel.
Day 4: Delta Works and Zierikzee
- Drive over the dykes to the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier.
- Visit to the Neeltje Jans park and the Delta Works exhibition (on request).
- Lunch on the way (on request).
- Walk in the old harbour town of Zierikzee, then back to Domburg.
Day 5: Yerseke and free time
- Free morning in Domburg.
- Drive to Yerseke.
- Mussel or oyster lunch, in season (on request).
- Walk around the harbour and back to the hotel in the late afternoon.
- Farewell dinner at the hotel.
Day 6: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast, then return journey in the late morning, with regular breaks.
- Return in the late afternoon or early evening to your region.

Good to know
- A valid identity card is required and a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is recommended.
- Departure and return times are adapted to your group’s pick-up point; price on quotation, from 20 participants.
- Walking level: easy (short walks on flat ground, frequent breaks).
- Stay possible from April to October; the Zeeland mussel season usually runs from July to April (to be checked each year).
