Four days in the heart of the Netherlands: Van Gogh at the Kröller-Müller, Het Loo Palace, the Arnhem open-air museum and Deventer.
The Veluwe, a vast area of forests and heathland, is one of the greenest landscapes in the Netherlands, just over two hours from Belgium. In the heart of De Hoge Veluwe National Park, the Kröller-Müller Museum houses one of the finest Van Gogh collections in the world and a large sculpture garden. In Apeldoorn, Het Loo Palace, former summer residence of the House of Orange, spreads out its baroque gardens. The Arnhem open-air museum, partly explored by tram, and the old Hanseatic town of Deventer complete the trip. A single hotel on half board for three nights and short distances every day.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Arnhem and the open-air museum
- Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Arnhem in the late morning.
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- Visit to the Nederlands Openluchtmuseum, the open-air museum of Dutch history, partly explored by tram (on request)
- Check-in at the hotel for 3 nights, dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: De Hoge Veluwe Park and the Kröller-Müller Museum
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Entry to De Hoge Veluwe National Park and coach drive through its forests and heathland.
- Guided tour of the Kröller-Müller Museum: works by Van Gogh and the sculpture garden (on request)
- Lunch at the park restaurant (on request)
- Return to the hotel in mid-afternoon, free time and dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Het Loo Palace and Deventer
- Breakfast at the hotel, then drive to Apeldoorn.
- Visit to Het Loo Palace and its baroque gardens (on request)
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- In the afternoon, guided walk in the old Hanseatic town of Deventer (on request)
- Dinner at the hotel.
Day 4: Oosterbeek and return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit to the Airborne Museum Hartenstein in Oosterbeek, devoted to the 1944 Battle of Arnhem (on request)
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- Return journey in the early afternoon.
- Return to your region in the evening.
