Five days in Warsaw: the rebuilt Old Town, the 1944 Uprising, Chopin, Marie Curie and the Copernicus Science Centre.
Almost completely destroyed in 1944, Warsaw’s Old Town was rebuilt with such care that it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980. Pupils discover Castle Square, the Market Square with its mermaid, and the district where Marie Curie was born. The Warsaw Rising Museum brings the uprising of summer 1944 to life, while the POLIN Museum, built on the site of the former ghetto, traces a thousand years of the history of Polish Jews. At the Copernicus Science Centre, young people try out physics, biology and robotics for themselves. Łazienki Park and the Chopin Monument offer a green, musical break. This trip suits secondary-school history, science and citizenship classes.
