Eight days in Occitania: medieval Carcassonne, the Cité de l’espace and Aeroscopia in Toulouse, and the episcopal city of Albi.
This tour combines medieval heritage with the great scientific adventures of the 20th century. The Cité of Carcassonne, with its double walls and towers restored by Viollet-le-Duc, immerses pupils in the history of fortified castles. In Toulouse, Europe’s capital of aeronautics and space, the Cité de l’espace presents rockets, satellites and a replica of the Mir space station, and the Aeroscopia museum displays two Concordes among others. The pink city can also be explored on foot, from the Capitole to the Basilica of Saint-Sernin, a stop on the Way of St James. Albi, whose episcopal city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, completes a trip ideal for secondary-school science, history and art classes.
Programme
Day 1: Journey south
- Departure from your school at the agreed time.
- Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break, day and night.
- Overnight stop in central France.
- Check-in at the accommodation and dinner.
Day 2: Carcassonne
- Breakfast.
- Drive to Languedoc, with regular breaks.
- Discovery of the Cité of Carcassonne: the Narbonne Gate, the lists and the medieval lanes.
- Visit of the Château Comtal and the ramparts of the Cité (on request).
- Drive to Toulouse.
- Check-in at the accommodation and dinner.
Day 3: The Cité de l’espace
- Breakfast.
- A day at the Cité de l’espace (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.
Day 4: Toulouse, the pink city
- Breakfast.
- A day on foot, without the coach (driver’s rest day).
- Discovery of the centre on foot: Place du Capitole, the Basilica of Saint-Sernin and the banks of the Garonne.
- Visit of the Couvent des Jacobins (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.
Day 5: Aeronautics and the Canal du Midi
- Breakfast.
- Visit of the Aeroscopia museum in Blagnac (on request).
- Walk along the Canal du Midi.
- Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.
Day 6: Albi
- Breakfast.
- Discovery of the episcopal city of Albi and Sainte-Cécile Cathedral.
- Visit of the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.
Day 7: Journey north
- Breakfast.
- Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break, day and night.
- Overnight stop in central France.
- Check-in at the accommodation and dinner.
Day 8: Return
- Breakfast.
- Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break, day and night.
- Return to school in the evening.

Good to know
- Identity card (Kids-ID for children under 12) and parental consent for travel abroad for each pupil, as well as the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
- Times adapted to your school; pupils are supervised by the accompanying teachers.
- The Cité de l’espace and Aeroscopia offer school workshops that must be booked in advance; bring comfortable shoes for the ramparts.
