Six days in the Alps: the Mer de Glace, the Aiguille du Midi facing Mont Blanc, Lake Annecy and the village of Yvoire.
At the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps, pupils discover the high mountains and landscapes shaped by glaciers. At the Mer de Glace, the largest glacier in France, markers show the level of the ice over the decades: a very concrete way to address climate change. The Aiguille du Midi offers a view of the massif from almost 3,800 metres, and a hike with a mountain leader introduces Alpine wildlife and plants. Annecy, its old town and lake, and the medieval village of Yvoire on Lake Geneva complete the tour. It suits secondary-school geography, science and physical education classes and the last years of primary school.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to the Alps
- Departure from your school at the agreed time, with two drivers on board.
- Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break, day and night.
- Arrival in the Chamonix valley at the end of the day.
- Check-in at the accommodation and dinner.
Day 2: Annecy and its lake
- Breakfast.
- Walk through the old town of Annecy, along the canals and past the Palais de l’Isle.
- Boat trip on Lake Annecy (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.
Day 3: Chamonix and the Mer de Glace
- Breakfast.
- A day on foot, without the coach (driver’s rest day).
- Montenvers train ride to the Mer de Glace and visit of the ice cave (on request).
- Walk through the centre of Chamonix.
- Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.
Day 4: Aiguille du Midi and hike
- Breakfast.
- Cable car ride up to the Aiguille du Midi (on request).
- Hike led by a mountain leader (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.
Day 5: Lake Geneva and Yvoire
- Breakfast.
- Discovery of Yvoire, a medieval village full of flowers on Lake Geneva.
- Visit of the Garden of Five Senses in Yvoire (on request).
- Return to the accommodation in the Chamonix valley.
- Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.
Day 6: Return
- Breakfast.
- Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break, day and night.
- Return to school in the evening.

Good to know
- Identity card (Kids-ID for children under 12) and parental consent for travel abroad for each pupil, as well as the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
- Times adapted to your school; pupils are supervised by the accompanying teachers.
- Cable cars and the Montenvers train depend on the weather and the season (best time: May-June or September); bring warm clothes, sunglasses and sun cream.
