Five days in the Loire Valley: Chambord, Blois, Amboise, Leonardo da Vinci’s Clos Lucé, Chenonceau and Villandry.
The Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the best place to understand the French Renaissance. At Chambord, pupils discover the château commissioned by Francis I and its famous double-helix staircase. At the Clos Lucé in Amboise, they enter Leonardo da Vinci’s last home and see models of his inventions. Blois, Chenonceau, built across the Cher, and the gardens of Villandry show how kings and queens lived and how a French formal garden was designed. This tour suits history, art and French classes, from the last years of primary school to the end of secondary school.
