Five days on the island of Texel, with its dunes, seals and sheep, plus outings to Alkmaar and Enkhuizen.
Texel, the largest of the Dutch Wadden Islands, is reached by a ferry crossing of about twenty minutes from Den Helder, without leaving the coach. The island charms with its peaceful villages, dunes, sheep and the Ecomare centre, where rescued seals can be observed. Your group stays four nights in the same hotel on half board and explores at a gentle pace. One day is devoted to Alkmaar, the cheese town with charming canals, another to Enkhuizen and its Zuiderzee Museum, which brings the fishing villages of the past back to life. A trip in the open air, at the slow pace of island life.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Texel
- Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Lunch on the way (on request)

- Ferry crossing from Den Helder to Texel, about 20 minutes.
- Check-in at the hotel for 4 nights, dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Tour of Texel island
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Coach tour of the island with a local guide: Den Burg, Oudeschild, De Koog and the Eierland lighthouse (on request)
- Visit to Ecomare, the seal and nature centre of the Wadden Sea (on request)
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- Free time in Den Burg, the main village, then dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Alkmaar, the cheese town
- Breakfast at the hotel, then ferry to Den Helder and drive to Alkmaar.
- Discovery of Alkmaar’s centre and its weigh house (Waag), with the cheese market depending on the season.
- Guided boat trip on the canals of Alkmaar (on request)
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- Return to Texel in the late afternoon, dinner at the hotel.
Day 4: Enkhuizen and the Zuiderzee Museum
- Breakfast at the hotel, then ferry and drive to Enkhuizen.
- Visit to the Zuiderzeemuseum, a reconstructed fishing village on the IJsselmeer (on request)
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- Free time at Enkhuizen harbour, then return to Texel and dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: Return
- Breakfast at the hotel and a free morning for a last walk.
- Ferry to Den Helder in the late morning.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Return to your region in the evening.

Good to know
- Valid identity card and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each participant.

- The Alkmaar cheese market takes place on Friday mornings, usually from April to September; the Enkhuizen open-air museum opens seasonally: dates to be checked.
