School trip to Technopolis: experiments, demonstrations and the high-wire bike

A day at Technopolis, the science centre in Mechelen, to experiment hands-on and understand science while having fun.

Technopolis in Mechelen is the Flemish centre for science and technology. Nothing is behind glass here: pupils try out many interactive experiments on electricity, light, the human body and forces. They can even ride a bicycle along a cable stretched high above the floor, to understand the role of the centre of gravity. Science demonstrations and workshops adapted to the pupils’ age complete the visit. This day suits pupils from the age of 8 up to secondary school, in science, physics and technology classes.

Programme

  • Departure from your school at the agreed time.
  • Coach journey: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Admission to Technopolis (on request)
  • Discovery of the interactive experiments in small groups supervised by the teachers.
  • Science demonstration or educational workshop adapted to the pupils’ age (on request)
  • Packed lunch brought by the pupils, or free lunch.
  • Group lunch in a restaurant or meal package on site (on request)
  • Free time to try the high-wire bike and the other experiments.
  • Short walk in the centre of Mechelen, at the foot of St Rumbold’s Cathedral tower (on request)
  • Return to the school at the end of the day.

Good to know

  • Departure and return times are adapted to your school; an identity card (Kids-ID for children under 12) is recommended for each pupil.
  • Pupils are supervised by their teachers; bring a packed lunch, a water bottle and clothing suited to the weather.
  • Workshops and demonstrations must be booked in advance, and their language should be checked; opening times depend on the period.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
