Two days in the Ardennes to explore space at the Euro Space Center, then go down into the Han Caves.
This two-day trip to the Ardennes links outer space with the depths of the Earth. At the Euro Space Center in Transinne, pupils discover space exploration, the solar system and the life of astronauts through exhibitions, simulators and workshops. The next day, the Han Cave, carved into the limestone by the river Lesse, shows them how stalactites and stalagmites form, along with huge underground chambers such as the Dome Hall. At the estate’s wildlife park, they observe European animals such as bears, wolves, lynx and bison. This stay suits science and geography classes for pupils aged 10 to 16, and makes a great first residential trip for a class.
Programme
Day 1: Euro Space Center and a night in the Ardennes
- Departure from your school at the agreed time.
- Coach journey: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Admission to the Euro Space Center in Transinne (on request)
- Workshops and simulators adapted to the pupils’ age (on request)
- Packed lunch brought by the pupils, or free lunch.
- Group lunch in a restaurant or meal package on site (on request)
- Check-in at the youth hostel or hotel in the area, then dinner.
Day 2: Han Caves and wildlife park
- Breakfast, then a short drive to Han-sur-Lesse.
- Guided tour of the Han Cave, with its stalactites and the Dome Hall (on request)
- Packed lunch brought by the pupils, or free lunch.
- Group lunch in a restaurant or meal package on site (on request)
- Visit to the wildlife park of the Han Caves estate (on request)
- Return to the school in the evening.

Good to know
- Departure and return times are adapted to your school; an identity card (Kids-ID for children under 12) is recommended for each pupil.
- Pupils are supervised by their teachers; bring a packed lunch, a water bottle and clothing suited to the weather.
- Bring a jumper and closed shoes for the cave, where it is cool all year round.
