Four days of nature in Bohemian Switzerland: Europe’s largest sandstone arch, gorges by boat and a maze of rocks.
Bohemian Switzerland National Park, on the Elbe and the German border, is an open-air geology textbook. Pupils hike to Pravčická brána, the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe, then glide by boat through the Kamenice gorges near Hřensko. The Tisá rocks, a maze of sandstone towers and passages, make for a fun afternoon of discovery. Děčín Castle, above the Elbe, adds a touch of history to the stay. This trip suits pupils from the last years of primary school to secondary school, for science, geography and environmental education.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Bohemian Switzerland
- Departure from your school at the agreed time.
- Drive to Bohemian Switzerland with two drivers on board; a break of at least 30 minutes every 3 hours of driving.
- Arrival in the late afternoon, check-in at the accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Pravčická brána and the Kamenice gorges
- Breakfast at the accommodation.
- Hike from Hřensko to the Pravčická brána arch, adapted to the pupils’ age.
- Access to the Pravčická brána viewpoint (on request).
- Boat trip through the Kamenice gorges (on request).
- Dinner and overnight stay at the accommodation.
Day 3: Děčín and the Tisá rocks
- Breakfast at the accommodation.
- Visit to Děčín Castle (on request).
- Exploring the Tisá rocks (site entrance) (on request).
- Nature workshop with a national park guide (on request).
- Dinner and overnight stay at the accommodation.
Day 4: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast at the accommodation.
- Return journey with two drivers on board and regular breaks (at least 30 minutes every 3 hours).
- Arrival back at school in the evening.

Good to know
- Identity card (Kids-ID for children under 12) and parental consent to travel abroad are required for every pupil.
- Bring the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC); currency: Czech koruna (CZK), euros are not accepted everywhere.
- Best from April to October (boats run in season); some trails may be closed since the 2022 fire: check access; walking shoes and a backpack.
- Times are adapted to your school; pupils remain supervised by their teachers, while our drivers ensure safe transport.
