Five days in South Bohemia: UNESCO-listed Český Krumlov, the great square of České Budějovice, Hluboká and Holašovice village.
Nestled in a bend of the Vltava, Český Krumlov is a small medieval and Renaissance town on the UNESCO World Heritage List, overlooked by one of the largest castles in Bohemia. Pupils discover life in a lordly town, from the castle garden to the lanes of the old town. In České Budějovice, the vast Přemysl Otakar II Square and the Black Tower illustrate a royal town founded in the 13th century, while Hluboká Castle shows the 19th-century taste for Neo-Gothic. Holašovice village, also a UNESCO site, presents the rural architecture of folk Baroque. This trip suits history, art history and geography lessons, from the last years of primary school to secondary school.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to South Bohemia
- Departure from your school at the agreed time.
- Drive to South Bohemia with two drivers on board; a break of at least 30 minutes every 3 hours of driving.
- Arrival in the late afternoon, check-in at the accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: České Budějovice and Hluboká
- Breakfast at the accommodation.
- Discovering Přemysl Otakar II Square and the old town of České Budějovice.
- Climb up the Black Tower (on request).
- Guided tour of Hluboká Castle (on request).
- Dinner and overnight stay at the accommodation.
Day 3: Český Krumlov
- Breakfast at the accommodation.
- Guided tour of Český Krumlov Castle and climb up the castle tower (on request).
- Walk in the castle gardens and the lanes of the old town.
- Visit to the Egon Schiele Art Centrum (on request).
- Dinner and overnight stay at the accommodation.
Day 4: Holašovice and the Vltava
- Breakfast at the accommodation.
- Discovering Holašovice village and its rural Baroque farmhouses.
- Supervised canoe or raft trip on the Vltava with instructors (on request).
- Free time in Český Krumlov.
- Dinner and overnight stay at the accommodation.
Day 5: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast at the accommodation.
- Return journey with two drivers on board and regular breaks (at least 30 minutes every 3 hours).
- Arrival back at school in the evening.

Good to know
- Identity card (Kids-ID for children under 12) and parental consent to travel abroad are required for every pupil.
- Bring the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC); currency: Czech koruna (CZK), euros are not accepted everywhere.
- Castle interiors are mostly open from April to October (check dates); the Vltava river trip runs in season, from a minimum age to be confirmed.
- Times are adapted to your school; pupils remain supervised by their teachers, while our drivers ensure safe transport.
