Slovenian coast: Piran, Portorož, the Lipica horses and Trieste (10 days)

Day 1: Drive to southern Germany

• Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
• Regular breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
• Drive into Germany, lunch at leisure on the way.
• Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel in southern Germany, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Arrival on the Slovenian coast

• Breakfast, then drive through Austria and Slovenia.
• Late-afternoon arrival in Portorož and check-in for 7 nights.
• Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3: Piran, the Venetian pearl

• Short drive to Piran.
• Guided tour of the old town: Tartini Square, lanes and town walls (on request).
• Walk up to the terrace of St George’s Church and its sea view.
• Free afternoon in Portorož, dinner at the hotel.

Day 4: Koper and Hrastovlje

• Guided tour of Koper old town and Tito Square (on request).
• Drive to the small village of Hrastovlje.
• Visit of the Holy Trinity Church and its Dance of Death fresco (on request).
• Lunch at a farm inn in the hinterland (on request).
• Back to the hotel in mid-afternoon, dinner.

Day 5: Free day in Portorož

• Free day, the driver’s rest day.
• Seaside walk, beach, terraces or rest at the hotel.
• Dinner at the hotel.

Day 6: Lipica and the Karst

• Drive to the Karst plateau.
• Guided tour of the Lipica stud farm, home of the Lipizzaner horses (on request).
• Horse presentation, according to the stud farm’s calendar (on request).
• Lunch at a Karst inn with local ham and wines (on request).
• Visit of the Škocjan Caves, a UNESCO site, for good walkers (on request).
• Back to the hotel, dinner.

Day 7: Trieste, the city facing the sea

• Short drive to Trieste, in Italy.
• Guided tour of Trieste: Piazza Unità d’Italia, the Grand Canal and the harbour district (on request).
• Break in one of the city’s historic cafés (on request).
• Visit of Miramare Castle by the water (on request).
• Back to the hotel, dinner.

Day 8: The salt pans and the coast by boat

• Visit of the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park (on request).
• Boat trip along the coast between Portorož and Piran (on request).
• Free afternoon, farewell dinner at the hotel.

Day 9: Return drive to Germany

• Breakfast, then return drive through Austria.
• Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel in southern Germany, dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Return to Belgium

• Breakfast, then the last leg to Belgium.
• Return to your area in the late afternoon or early evening.
