6 days in the Julian Alps with 3 nights in Bled: the island and castle, Lake Bohinj, Mount Vogel and the old town of Radovljica.
With its island crowned by a church and its castle perched on a cliff, Lake Bled is one of the loveliest postcards in the Alps. Your group stays 3 nights in Bled, close to the lake, to enjoy the scenery without rushing. One day is devoted to the wilder Lake Bohinj, where a cable car climbs Mount Vogel for a view of the Julian Alps, and then to Radovljica, a small historic town known for its beekeeping museum. The next day is free in Bled: a walk around the lake at your own pace, a crossing by traditional boat or a slice of kremšnita on a terrace. An overnight stop in Germany on the way out and back breaks up the long journeys.
Programme
Day 1: Drive to southern Germany
- Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Regular breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Drive into Germany, lunch at leisure on the way.
- Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel in southern Germany, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Through Austria to Bled
- Breakfast, then drive through Austria and the Karawanks Tunnel.
- Mid-afternoon arrival in Bled and check-in for 3 nights.
- First stroll along the lake, dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Bohinj, Vogel and Radovljica
- Drive to Lake Bohinj and stop near the Church of St John the Baptist.
- Cable car ride up Mount Vogel, with a view of Triglav in clear weather (on request).
- Lunch by Lake Bohinj (on request).
- In the afternoon, Radovljica old town and visit of the beekeeping museum (on request).
- Back to Bled, dinner at the hotel.
Day 4: Free day in Bled
- Free day, the driver’s rest day.
- Tour of the lake by tourist train, depending on the season (on request).
- Crossing by pletna to Bled Island and its church (on request).
- Visit of Bled Castle and its terrace above the lake (on request).
- Free time to taste kremšnita, Bled’s cream cake, dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: Return drive to Germany
- Breakfast, then return drive through Austria.
- Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel in southern Germany, dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast, then the last leg to Belgium.
- Return to your area in the late afternoon or early evening.
