Two days between the Kinderdijk windmills, the great port of Rotterdam and a city rebuilt after 1940.
This short trip shows pupils how the Dutch live with water, from the 19 UNESCO-listed windmills of Kinderdijk to Europe’s largest port. In Rotterdam, destroyed by the bombing of 14 May 1940, they discover a city rebuilt as an architectural laboratory: the Erasmus Bridge, the Cube Houses and the Markthal. The harbour cruise and the Maritime Museum explain world trade and logistics in a very concrete way. It suits geography, history and science lessons, from the last year of primary school to the end of secondary school.
