Florence and the Renaissance, Siena, the towers of San Gimignano, then Umbria's hilltop towns, from Perugia to Assisi and Orvieto.
This trip takes pupils into the Italy of hills and art cities. In Florence, they discover the Duomo, the Uffizi and Michelangelo’s David, then Siena and the medieval towers of San Gimignano. In Umbria, they climb up to the hilltop towns: Perugia and its escalators beneath the Rocca Paolina, Assisi and the Basilica of St Francis, Orvieto and its cathedral, Civita di Bagnoregio on its spur, before a day on Lake Trasimeno. An overnight stop in Switzerland on the way out and in Ticino on the way back avoids any night driving. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. Travel is by day, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group on site.

Good to know
- Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure; an identity card is enough to cross Switzerland, and a few Swiss francs may come in handy at the overnight stops.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. An overnight stop in Switzerland on the way out and in Ticino on the way back avoids any night driving, and two drivers take turns at the wheel.
- Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, shoulders and knees covered and silence in churches and in the basilicas of Assisi).
- The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school's online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
- Recommended period: April to June or September–October, when the hills are green and the heat bearable; the Accademia and the Uffizi must be booked several months in advance, and Italian state museums are free for under-18s with a group booking. The hilltop towns are visited on foot, uphill: good shoes are a must. Italy uses the euro; allow around €12–15 per pupil per day for lunches.
