Five nights in the heart of Barcelona to experience the city at a Catalan pace: Gaudí, Montjuïc, the Gothic Quarter, Barceloneta beach and lively evenings.
Staying in Barcelona itself, in the centre or close to a metro station, your pupils make the most of the Catalan capital: Gaudí's Sagrada Família and Park Güell, the Olympic hill of Montjuïc, the Gothic Quarter and Barceloneta beach. It is an ideal city for exploring modernist art, history and the Spanish language while sharing a real big-city Mediterranean experience. Getting around is on foot and by metro, as a group and always supervised by the teachers. Departure on Sunday afternoon: the outward and return journeys are made overnight with two drivers taking turns (double crew) and a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving.
Programme
Day 1 : Departure from your school
- Departure on Sunday afternoon from your school.
- Overnight journey to Spain with two drivers taking turns on board (double crew).
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night.
Day 2 : Arrival in Barcelona
- Arrival in Barcelona on Monday morning and luggage dropped off at the hotel or youth hostel (check-in subject to room availability).
- First stroll to Port Vell and Barceloneta beach.
- Afternoon relaxing on the beach.
- Dinner and a quiet evening to recover from the journey.
Day 3 : Gaudí and modernisme
- Visit to the Sagrada Família, Gaudí's basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Visit to Park Güell and its mosaic terrace overlooking the city.
- Walk along the Passeig de Gràcia, past Casa Milà (La Pedrera).
- Interior visit of Casa Batlló (on request).
- Supervised free evening in the Gràcia district and its lively squares.
Day 4 : Montjuïc, the Olympic hill
- Up to Montjuïc: the castle, the stadium of the 1992 Olympic Games and gardens with views over the harbour.
- Visit to the Joan Miró Foundation (on request).
- Afternoon at the Poble Espanyol or supervised free time on Plaça d'Espanya.
- In the evening, the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc show (depending on the show schedule).
Day 5 : Old town and Barceloneta
- La Rambla and the Boqueria market.
- Walking tour of the Gothic Quarter: the cathedral, Plaça de Sant Jaume, Plaça del Rei, then the El Born district and the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar.
- Visit to the Picasso Museum (on request).
- Afternoon on Barceloneta beach, with paddleboarding or beach volleyball depending on the season.
- Dinner and group evening.
Day 6 : Montserrat or Camp Nou
- Coach excursion to Montserrat: rack railway ride, the monastery and the Black Madonna, views over the mountains of Catalonia (on request).
- Visit to the FC Barcelona stadium and museum (Camp Nou) (on request).
- Otherwise, a supervised free morning in the centre (shopping on the Portal de l'Àngel) and an afternoon in Ciutadella Park.
- Last festive evening.
Day 7 : Last day and departure
- Rooms vacated after breakfast, luggage loaded onto the coach.
- Last supervised free morning: beach, souvenir shopping or a final stroll along La Rambla.
- Lunch, then free time.
- Departure in the late afternoon or evening, overnight journey with two drivers taking turns (double crew).
Day 8 : Return to school
- Drive back to Belgium, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving.
- Arrival at your school in the morning.

- 5 nights in a 3-star hotel or a youth hostel suited to school groups in Barcelona (in the centre or close to the metro), rooms for 3 to 8 pupils and separate rooms for the accompanying staff

- Metro tickets for the planned journeys within Barcelona

Good to know
- Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. On overnight journeys, two drivers take turns on board (double crew), which avoids any hotel night along the way.
- Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time).
- The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school's online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
- Recommended period: the spring or autumn holidays, with booking 6 to 9 months in advance (Sagrada Família and Park Güell on a fixed time slot); in Barcelona, pickpockets target tourist areas and the metro: keep bags closed and carried in front, and phones in an inside pocket.
