Lucerne and its wooden bridge, Lugano, Lakes Como and Maggiore, then Zermatt beneath the Matterhorn: a grand tour of Alps and Italian lakes.

This grand tour links two worlds in nine days. Pupils discover Lucerne, its covered bridge and Mount Pilatus, cross the Gotthard to Lugano and the mild climate of Ticino, then set sail on Lake Como and to the Borromean Islands on Lake Maggiore. The Simplon Pass then takes them to Zermatt, a car-free village at the foot of the Matterhorn, before the return via Lake Geneva and Chillon Castle, with an overnight stop in the Basel area. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made by day, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group on site.

Good to know

  • Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure; for Switzerland, an identity card is enough.
  • Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. The return journey is broken by an overnight stop in the Basel area, and all driving is done by day.
  • Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, strict punctuality for boats and mountain trains, good shoes and care on high-altitude paths).
  • The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school’s online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
  • Recommended period: May to June or September, when the lake boats, the Isola Bella palace (open from late March to early November) and the Zermatt trails are accessible; bring a warm jacket for the Gornergrat, which is chilly even in summer. Switzerland uses the Swiss franc and Italy the euro; lunches are not included: allow around €10–15 per pupil per day in Italy and rather 15 to 20 Swiss francs in Switzerland.
