Salzburg, Mozart's city, the lakeside village of Hallstatt, the salt mine slides and the lakes of the Salzkammergut: Alps, water and history.
Based in Salzburg, this final-year trip explores one of Austria’s most beautiful regions. Pupils stroll through Mozart’s Baroque old town and its fortress, then go down into the salt mines of Hallein and Hallstatt, ride the miners’ slides and learn how “white gold” made the region rich. They then follow the lakes of the Salzkammergut, from the Wolfgangsee to the Mondsee, before a stop at the Chiemsee. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made in daytime, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group on site.

- Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. Given the distance (about 900 km), two drivers take turns and an overnight stop is planned on the way out and on the way back: no night driving.
- Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, respect for the residents’ peace and quiet in Hallstatt, a small and very busy village).
- The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school's online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
- Recommended period: May to early October; the Schafberg railway runs from late April to late October, and coach access to Hallstatt is by booked time slot, arranged by us. Austria uses the euro; in the mines it is around 8 °C all year round: bring a jacket and good shoes (overalls are provided). Lunches are not included: allow around €12–15 per pupil per day.
