The Romantic Rhine and the Loreley, Strasbourg and the European Parliament, Colmar, the Rhine Falls and Lucerne: one river, three countries.

This trip travels up the Rhine through three countries. Pupils discover the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz and the castles of the Romantic Rhine valley around the Loreley rock, then Strasbourg, its cathedral, the Petite France and the European Parliament. The wine route leads to Colmar and Riquewihr, before the Rhine Falls, the most powerful in Europe. In Switzerland, Lucerne and its Chapel Bridge, then Bern, the federal capital, complete the journey, with a last evening in Freiburg im Breisgau. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made in daytime, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group.

Good to know

  • Valid identity card or passport (an identity card is enough for Switzerland), signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), valid in Switzerland, to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
  • Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. The stages are short: no day exceeds 8 hours of driving, always in daytime.
  • Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, life jackets and safety instructions respected on board boats, caution by the Rhine and the falls).
  • The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school’s online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
  • Recommended period: May to June and September; the Pilatus cogwheel railway only runs from about May to November, and the European Parliament visit must be booked several months ahead. Switzerland uses the Swiss franc (CHF), but bank cards are accepted almost everywhere; sockets are different (an adapter is recommended) and mobile roaming is not always included. Lunches are not included: plan on about €10 to €15 per pupil per day, and rather €15 to €20 in Switzerland.
