Crossing Mont-Saint-Michel bay barefoot with a guide, the abbey, then the ramparts of Saint-Malo, the corsair city: unforgettable tides.

Reaching Mont-Saint-Michel on foot, barefoot through the sand and the small streams of the bay, with an approved guide who explains the tides and the quicksand: an experience pupils never forget. Then comes a visit to the abbey perched on its rock, followed by Saint-Malo, its ramparts, its beaches and the islet of Grand Bé, reachable at low tide, and Cancale facing the bay. The date and time of departure are set with your school in the quote; the journey is made by day, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group on site.

Good to know

  • Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
  • Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night.
  • Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions). In the bay, nobody ever ventures out without the guide: the tide comes in very fast and the quicksand is dangerous; in Saint-Malo, the tide times are respected for Grand Bé and Fort National.
  • The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school's online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
  • Recommended period: April to June or September, when the water in the bay is less cold for the barefoot crossing; bring shorts or trousers that roll up, a towel, a change of clothes and a windbreaker. The journey is long, so bring something to do on the coach; France uses the euro and lunches are not included (budget of around €10–15 per pupil per day).
