The Borromean Islands, San Giulio on Lake Orta, Milan's Duomo, then Como and Bellagio by boat: three lakes and a capital of design.

This final-year trip reveals the great lakes of northern Italy and their capital, Milan. From Lake Maggiore, pupils sail to the Borromean Islands and their palaces, then to San Giulio island on little Lake Orta. Milan offers them the Duomo and its terraces, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, La Scala and Sforza Castle. On Lake Como, they take the boat to Bellagio, before a final stop in Lugano, in Switzerland. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made in daytime, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group on site.

Good to know

  • Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure. For Switzerland, an identity card is sufficient; the currency there is the Swiss franc (bank cards and often euros accepted).
  • Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. As the journey exceeds 900 km, an overnight stop is planned in Freiburg im Breisgau on the way out and on the way back: no night driving.
  • Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, swimming only in authorised places and under the teachers’ supervision).
  • The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school's online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
  • Recommended period: April to June or September and October, when the lake boats run their full timetable and the gardens are in bloom (the palaces and gardens of the Borromean Islands generally open from late March to late October). The “Last Supper” must be booked several months in advance (very limited places) and clothing covering shoulders and knees is required at the Duomo. Italy uses the euro, Switzerland the Swiss franc (a few francs are enough for the stop in Lugano); lunches are not included: allow around €10–15 per pupil per day.
