The rooftops of Milan's Duomo, the Galleria, Lake Como and the Borromean Islands on Lake Maggiore: elegant Italy, from fashion to lakes.
This trip combines the energy of Milan, capital of fashion and design, with the gentle charm of the great lakes at the foot of the Alps. Pupils discover the Duomo and its marble spires, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and Sforza Castle, stroll along the shores of Lake Como and set sail on Lake Maggiore for the Borromean Islands. The route crosses Switzerland through the Gotthard tunnel, with a stop in Lugano on the way back. As the journey exceeds 900 km, an overnight stop is planned in Freiburg im Breisgau on the way out and on the way back. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made by day, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group on site.

Good to know
- Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure; an identity card is sufficient for crossing Switzerland.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. As the journey exceeds 900 km, an overnight stop is planned in Freiburg im Breisgau on the outward and return journeys: no night driving.
- Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, vigilance against pickpockets in central Milan and on the metro).
- The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school’s online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
- Recommended period: April to June or September and October, when the lake boats run their full timetable and the gardens are in bloom. ‘The Last Supper’ must be booked several months in advance (very limited places) and clothing covering shoulders and knees is required in the Duomo. Italy uses the euro and Switzerland the Swiss franc (a few francs are enough for the stop in Lugano, and bank cards are accepted everywhere); lunches are not included: allow a budget of around €10–15 per pupil per day, or hotel packed lunches on request.
