Edinburgh Castle, Stirling and Loch Lomond, Glasgow, then the ferry to Belfast, the Titanic and the basalt columns of the Giant’s Causeway.

This trip links two Celtic lands of the United Kingdom. In Edinburgh, pupils visit the castle, walk down the Royal Mile and climb Arthur’s Seat; in Stirling, they discover the castle of the Scottish kings before Glasgow and its great free museums. A ferry then takes them to Belfast, the city of the Titanic, and on to the Antrim coast, from the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge to the Giant’s Causeway. An overnight stop in England on the way out and on the way back avoids any night driving. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. Travel is by day, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group on site.

Good to know

  • A valid passport is compulsory for every pupil and every member of staff (an identity card is not enough to enter the United Kingdom), together with an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) applied for online before departure; signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom: no extra formalities for the ferry to Belfast. Pupils of other nationalities should check their own entry requirements.
  • Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. An overnight stop in England on the way out (Cambridge area) and on the way back (Northampton area) avoids any night driving, and two drivers take turns at the wheel.
  • Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, care when crossing the road, as traffic drives on the left in the UK, and on the paths of Arthur’s Seat and the Antrim cliffs).
  • The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school’s online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
  • Recommended period: May to June or September, when the days are long; apply for passports and ETAs at least two months before departure. The weather changes quickly in Scotland and on the Antrim coast: bring a raincoat, warm clothes and walking shoes. The UK uses the pound sterling (bank cards are accepted almost everywhere) and sockets are type G (adapter needed). Lunches are not included: allow around £10–15 per pupil per day, or hotel packed lunches on request.
