Hamburg’s harbour and the Elbphilharmonie, then the ferry to Copenhagen, Nyhavn, the Little Mermaid and Hamlet’s castle: two northern ports.
This trip sets course for two great port cities of northern Europe. In Hamburg, pupils discover Europe’s second-largest port by boat, wander among the red-brick warehouses of the Speicherstadt and go up to the panoramic Plaza of the Elbphilharmonie; after the ferry crossing of the Baltic, they explore Copenhagen, its canals, Nyhavn and the Little Mermaid, then Kronborg Castle in Helsingør, the setting of ‘Hamlet’. The stay in Hamburg serves as a stopover on the way out, and an overnight stop in the area is planned on the way back. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made by day, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group on site.

Good to know
- Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. As Copenhagen is more than 900 km away, the stay in Hamburg serves as a stopover on the way out and an overnight stop in the Hamburg area is planned on the way back: no night driving.
- Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, the Reeperbahn district in Hamburg and Christiania in Copenhagen excluded from the programme and off-limits during free time, care around the very many bikes).
- The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school’s online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
- Recommended period: April to September, when the days are long and Tivoli is open; Miniatur Wunderland is booked in advance by time slot. Germany uses the euro and Denmark the Danish krone (DKK), with bank cards accepted everywhere; Denmark is expensive: for the lunches, allow a budget of around €10–15 per pupil per day in Hamburg and €15–20 in Copenhagen, or hotel packed lunches on request.
