Edinburgh's Royal Mile, the wild valleys of Glencoe, the Glenfinnan Viaduct, the cliffs of the Isle of Skye and the mysterious shores of Loch Ness.

This trip takes pupils to the far end of Great Britain. After York, they discover Edinburgh, its castle, the Royal Mile and the climb up Arthur's Seat, then cross the Highlands via Glencoe and Fort William. On the Isle of Skye, they hike to the Old Man of Storr and follow the Trotternish cliffs, before reaching Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. An overnight stop in England on the way out and on the way back avoids any night driving. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. Travel is by day, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group on site.

Good to know

  • A valid passport is compulsory for every pupil and every member of staff (an identity card is not enough to enter the United Kingdom), together with an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to be applied for online before departure; signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Pupils of other nationalities should check their entry requirements.
  • Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. An overnight stop in the Cambridge area on the way out and on the way back avoids any night driving, and two drivers take turns at the wheel.
  • Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, care when crossing the road, as traffic drives on the left: look right first, and on mountain paths and cliff edges).
  • The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school's online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
  • Recommended period: May to June or September, when the days are long; apply for passports and ETAs at least two months before departure and book the limited accommodation on Skye early. The weather changes quickly: bring a waterproof jacket, warm clothes, walking shoes and midge repellent. The UK uses the pound sterling (bank cards accepted almost everywhere) and type G sockets (adapter needed); lunches are not included: allow around £10–15 per pupil per day.
