Final-year school trip to the Côte d’Azur: Nice, Monaco, Èze and Cannes (7 days)

Day 1: Departure from your school and overnight stop near Lyon

• Departure from your school early in the morning, at the agreed time.
• Daytime drive via Luxembourg, Lorraine and Burgundy (about 650 to 750 km depending on your school, 7½ to 8½ hours’ driving excluding stops).
• Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night.
• Arrival in the late afternoon in the Lyon area: check-in at the hotel for the overnight stop, dinner and quiet evening.

Day 2: On to the Mediterranean and arrival in Nice

• Departure after breakfast through the Rhône valley and Provence (about 470 km, 5½ hours’ driving excluding stops).
• Lunch at your own expense during a stop on the way.
• Arrival in Nice in mid-afternoon and first walk along the Promenade des Anglais, facing the Baie des Anges.
• Check-in at the accommodation in or around Nice for four nights; dinner and supervised evening.

Day 3: Nice, between Old Nice and Castle Hill

• Walk through Old Nice, its narrow streets and the Cours Saleya flower market, then Place Masséna.
• Up Castle Hill (free access) and its waterfall, for the panorama over the bay and the port.
• Lunch at your own expense, then visit to the Marc Chagall National Museum and its ‘Biblical Message’ (free for under-26s resident in the European Union).
• Supervised free time and swimming at the beach (in season), then dinner and supervised evening.

Day 4: Èze and Monaco

• Drive to Èze along the Moyenne Corniche (about 30 min) and guided tour of the Fragonard perfumery at the foot of the village (free).
• Walk up into the hilltop village and visit to the exotic garden, 429 m above the sea (on request).
• Drive to Monaco (about 20 min): the changing of the guard at the Prince’s Palace at 11.55 am, the old town on the Rock and lunch at your own expense.
• Visit to the Oceanographic Museum, clinging to the cliff (on request), then past the Monte-Carlo Casino and along the Grand Prix circuit; return to Nice for dinner and supervised evening.

Day 5: Cannes and the Lérins Islands

• Drive to Cannes (about 45 min) and walk along the Croisette to the Palais des Festivals and its famous steps.
• Up to Le Suquet, the old quarter, for the view over the bay; lunch at your own expense.
• Boat crossing to the island of Sainte-Marguerite and visit to the Fort Royal, where the Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned (on request).
• Return to Nice (about 45 min), dinner and last evening in Nice.

Day 6: On to Lyon

• Rooms vacated after breakfast, luggage loaded into the coach.
• Drive to the Lyon area (about 470 km, 5½ hours’ driving excluding stops).
• Lunch at your own expense during a stop on the way.
• Check-in at the hotel for the overnight stop, dinner and last supervised evening.

Day 7: Return to your school

• Departure after breakfast.
• Daytime drive to Belgium (about 650 to 750 km) with regular stops.
• Lunch at your own expense during a stop on the way.
• Arrival at your school in the evening.
