Budapest’s Parliament, Fishermen’s Bastion and Széchenyi baths, then Lake Balaton with Tihany, Keszthely and the thermal lake of Hévíz.
This trip combines the Hungarian capital with relaxing days by the largest lake in Central Europe. In Budapest, pupils climb up to the Castle District and Gellért Hill, visit Parliament, swim at the Széchenyi Baths and discover 20th-century history at the House of Terror. They then head to Lake Balaton: the Tihany peninsula and its abbey, the volcanic hill of Badacsony, the Festetics Palace in Keszthely and the thermal lake of Hévíz, between swims and walks. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made in daytime, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group.

Good to know
- Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. Given the distance (about 1,350 km to Budapest), two drivers take turns and an overnight stop is planned on the way out and on the way back: no night driving.
- Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, swimming in Lake Balaton only on lifeguarded beaches and with an accompanying adult present, “ruin bars” excluded from the programme, appropriate dress in places of worship and at the baths).
- The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school’s online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
- Recommended period: mid-May to late June and September; Lake Balaton is pleasant for swimming from June, while the lake at Hévíz can be enjoyed all year round. Hungary uses the forint (HUF): bank cards are accepted almost everywhere; sockets are the same as in Belgium. For the baths, bring swimwear, a towel and flip-flops. Lunches are not included and inexpensive: plan on about €10 to €12 per pupil per day.
