The ramparts of Saint-Malo, the corsair city, Dinan’s medieval lanes, Cap Fréhel and the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel: a trip facing the sea.

Northern Brittany feels a world away without taking a plane: pupils walk the ramparts of Saint-Malo, the corsairs’ city, cross on foot to the islet of Grand Bé at low tide, discover the medieval town of Dinan and the pink sandstone cliffs of Cap Fréhel, then spend a day at Mont-Saint-Michel. An open-air trip shaped by the strongest tides in continental Europe. The drive is long, about 7 to 8 hours depending on your school, and is made with two drivers if necessary. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote; the journey is made by day, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group throughout the stay.

  • Visit to the Grand Aquarium of Saint-Malo (on request).
  • Dinner and supervised evening.

  • Visit to Fort La Latte, a castle standing right by the sea (on request).

Good to know

  • Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
  • Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night; given the length of the journey, two drivers take turns if necessary.
  • Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions; walks on the foreshore, to Grand Bé and in the bay, are only made as a group and according to the tide times, as the sea comes in very fast).
  • The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school's online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
  • Recommended period: April to June and September; the programme is adapted day by day to the tide times, and the bay is crossed barefoot (bring shorts and a towel). France uses the euro and the same electrical sockets as Belgium; Breton weather changes quickly, so bring a waterproof windbreaker. Lunches are not included: allow a budget of around €10–15 per pupil per day (crêpes and galettes are a good option); on request, the hotel can provide packed lunches.
