The D-Day beaches, Mont-Saint-Michel, Saint-Malo, the Ploumanac’h rocks and Étretat: eight days by the sea, between history and nature.

This trip follows the coast from Normandy to Brittany. Pupils discover Rouen and Joan of Arc, then the D-Day beaches, from Pointe du Hoc to the American cemetery at Colleville. They climb Mont-Saint-Michel and can cross its bay on foot with a guide, before three days in Saint-Malo: ramparts, Dinan, Cap Fréhel and the Pink Granite Coast. The return leg takes in Honfleur, the cliffs of Étretat and the rebuilt city of Le Havre, listed by UNESCO. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made by day, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group on site.

  • The services of one driver (two drivers if the journey requires it)

  • Visit to the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel
  • Visit to the Grand Aquarium of Saint-Malo
  • Visit to Fort La Latte

Good to know

  • Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
  • Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. Driving stages remain short during the stay and all journeys are made by day.
  • Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel only with an approved guide because of the tides and quicksand, care near cliff edges, respectful behaviour in military cemeteries).
  • The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school’s online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
  • Recommended period: April to June or September; the bay crossing and access to Grand Bé depend on the tide times, which we build into the programme. France uses the euro; bring a raincoat, a jumper and good walking shoes, as the weather changes quickly on the coast. Lunches are not included: allow a budget of about €10 to €15 per pupil per day (crêpes and galettes welcome), or hotel packed lunches on request.
