Bordeaux’s water mirror and Cité du Vin, the Dune du Pilat, a boat trip on the Arcachon Bay and a real surf lesson on the Atlantic.

This final-year trip begins in Bordeaux, a UNESCO-listed city, with Place de la Bourse and its water mirror, the Cité du Vin and the Bassins à flot. The group then settles on the shores of the Arcachon Basin: pupils climb the Dune du Pilat, the highest in Europe, discover the Ville d’Hiver, can cross over to Cap Ferret and spend a day at Biscarrosse-Plage with a surf lesson run by qualified instructors. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made in daytime, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group on site.

Good to know

  • Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
  • Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. As the total journey exceeds 900 km depending on the departure point, an overnight stop is planned near Tours on the way out and on the way back: no night driving.
  • Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, swimming and surfing only on supervised beaches, with the instructors or teachers, because of the baïnes, the dangerous currents of the Atlantic coast).
  • The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school's online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
  • Recommended period: May to June or September; surf schools operate from April to October and beaches are supervised mainly from June to September. The Cité du Vin and the Bassins des Lumières must be booked in advance for groups. Bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, cap, good shoes and a bottle of water for the dune. France uses the euro; lunches are not included: allow around €10–15 per pupil per day.
