La Concha bay and its pintxos, a surf lesson, Bilbao’s Guggenheim, Zumaia and Gaztelugatxe: the Basque Country, ocean and architecture.
This trip introduces pupils to a lively and surprising Basque Country. After a stop in Biarritz, they settle in San Sebastián, between La Concha bay, the old town and its pintxo bars, try their hand at surfing and visit Hondarribia. The flysch cliffs of Zumaia and the port of Getaria lead them to Bilbao, a city transformed by the Guggenheim Museum, then to Gernika and the islet of Gaztelugatxe. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made by day, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving and an overnight stop on the way out and back, and the coach stays with the group on site.

Good to know
- Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. An overnight stop in Touraine on the way out and in Poitou on the way back avoids any night driving.
- Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, swimming and surfing only in supervised areas and with the teachers’ permission).
- The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school’s online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
- Recommended period: April to June or September; it rains on the Basque coast all year round, so bring a raincoat and walking shoes for Zumaia and Gaztelugatxe. Spain uses the euro; lunches are not included: allow around €12–15 per pupil per day, with pintxos costing €2–4 each.
