The Wall, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag dome and Checkpoint Charlie: in Berlin, pupils walk in the footsteps of 20th-century history.

No city tells the story of the 20th century like Berlin. On this final-year trip, pupils climb into the Reichstag dome, pay their respects at the Holocaust Memorial and the Sachsenhausen camp, follow the line of the Wall from Bernauer Straße to the East Side Gallery and pass through Checkpoint Charlie, before discovering daily life in the GDR and today's reunified Berlin. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made in daytime, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours on the road, and the coach stays with the group on site throughout the stay.

Good to know

  • Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
  • Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. Given the length of the journey (about 650 to 800 km), two drivers take turns on the way there and back.
  • Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, respectful dress and behaviour at the memorials, where inappropriate photos and selfies are prohibited).
  • The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school's online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
  • Recommended period: all year round, bearing in mind that Berlin winters are cold; the Reichstag dome requires registration several weeks in advance with the names and dates of birth of the participants, and ID is checked at the entrance. Germany uses the euro and the same electrical sockets as Belgium. Lunches are not included: allow around €10–15 per pupil per day; currywurst and döner, two Berlin classics, remain inexpensive.
