Canoeing under the Pont d’Arc, climbing, caving and the Chauvet 2 cave: a week of sport and nature in the Ardèche sunshine.
The Ardèche is the perfect playground for an active final-year trip. Based in Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, pupils paddle down the river by canoe and pass under the famous natural arch of the Pont d’Arc, discover the gorges from their viewpoints and can try climbing and caving. Chauvet Cave 2, a replica of the oldest known decorated cave, and the Aven d’Orgnac cavern add a touch of discovery, between swims and evenings in the open air. The departure date and time are set with your school in the quote. The journey is made in daytime, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving, and the coach stays with the group.

Good to know
- Valid identity card or passport, signed parental consent form for each pupil under 18 and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to be requested from your health insurance fund a few weeks before departure.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night. As Vallon-Pont-d’Arc is about 950 km from Belgium, two drivers take turns and an overnight stop is planned on the way out and on the way back: no night driving.
- Supervision is provided by the accompanying teachers; each pupil signs a code of conduct based on the school rules (no alcohol for minors or on the coach, no drug use, punctuality and compliance with instructions during free time, life jackets compulsory in canoes, swimming only in permitted areas and with an accompanying adult present, respect for the gorges nature reserve).
- The pupil list and rooming list are entered in the school’s online area (Excel import possible); rooms are allocated according to your instructions.
- Recommended period: late May to late June and September, when the water is warm enough and the river is less crowded than in summer. Every pupil must be able to swim: a swimming certificate is required for canoeing. Bring swimwear, sun cream, closed shoes that can get wet and old clothes for caving. France uses the euro; lunches are not included: plan on about €10 to €15 per pupil per day.
