5 days in eastern Slovenia: Moravske Toplice spa, Plečnik's church in Bogojina, the floating mill on the Mura and Jeruzalem.
At the far eastern tip of Slovenia, Prekmurje is a region of peaceful plains, storks and hot springs, close to Hungary and Austria. Your group stays 4 nights in Moravske Toplice, a small spa town where you can bathe in naturally warm water. The excursions are short and on the flat: the church of Bogojina remodelled by the architect Jože Plečnik, the black pottery of Filovci, the floating mill of Veržej on the Mura and the vine-covered hills of Jeruzalem. Gibanica, a layered cake with apples, walnuts, poppy seeds and cottage cheese, can be tasted as an option. Two drivers take turns on the outward and return journeys so that the long trip stays comfortable.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Slovenia
- Early morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice, with two drivers on board.
- Route through Germany and Austria, via Graz.
- Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Coffee break on the way and free lunch at a service area or roadside restaurant.
- Arrival in Moravske Toplice in the evening and check-in at the hotel for 4 nights.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Moravske Toplice and Murska Sobota
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Free morning or bathing at the Moravske Toplice thermal baths (on request).
- Lunch in a restaurant (on request).
- In the afternoon, drive to Murska Sobota (about 15 minutes) and a walk in the castle park and town centre.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Bogojina and Filovci
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Bogojina (about 15 minutes) and its church remodelled by the architect Jože Plečnik.
- Visit to a black pottery workshop in Filovci (on request).
- Lunch in a restaurant (on request).
- Tasting of Prekmurje gibanica, a layered cake with apples, walnuts, poppy seeds and cottage cheese (on request).
- Free afternoon at the thermal baths or the hotel.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: The Mura and Jeruzalem
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Veržej (about 30 minutes) and its floating mill on the Mura.
- Visit to the floating mill (on request).
- Lunch in a restaurant (on request).
- In the afternoon, a scenic drive through the vineyard hills of Jeruzalem.
- Tasting of regional wines (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Morning departure with two drivers on board.
- Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Return to your region late in the evening.
