Three days in Plzeň, home of pale lager: the Pilsner Urquell brewery, the main square, the cathedral, the underground and the Great Synagogue.
Plzeň is where the famous pale Pilsner lager was born in 1842, and a visit to the Pilsner Urquell brewery, with its cellars and tasting, is still a highlight. Yet the city has much more to offer: a huge square dominated by St Bartholomew’s Cathedral, medieval passages dug beneath the houses, and the Great Synagogue, one of the largest in Europe. This short break concentrates the visits on one full day, from a single hotel. Two drivers take turns on the outward and return journeys for a safe and comfortable trip. The programme can be tailored, with prices on quotation, for groups of 20 participants or more.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Plzeň
- Early-morning departure from the location of your choice, with two drivers on board for this long journey.
- Regular breaks on the road: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Plzeň at the end of the day and check-in at the hotel for 2 nights.
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Plzeň, city of beer
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of the old town: Republic Square, the Renaissance town hall and St Bartholomew’s Cathedral (on request).
- Visit of the Plzeň Historical Underground with a guide (on request).
- Lunch in a traditional beer hall (on request).
- Guided tour of the Pilsner Urquell brewery and its cellars, with a tasting of unfiltered beer (on request).
- Free late afternoon, with the possibility of seeing the Great Synagogue (subject to opening).
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Morning departure from Plzeň.
- Return journey with two drivers on board and regular breaks, arriving back in your area in the evening.
