5 days on the small Slovenian coast: Venetian Piran, Koper, the fishing port of Izola, the salt pans and a cruise along the shore.
A former town of the Venetian Republic, Piran has kept its lanes, its houses with coloured shutters and its large oval square named after the violinist Giuseppe Tartini, who was born here. Your group stays 4 nights in Portorož, the neighbouring resort, from where a long, flat promenade runs along the sea. You discover Koper and Tito Square, the small fishing port of Izola and the Sečovlje salt pans, where salt is still harvested by hand. A cruise along the coast offers another view of Piran from the sea. Two drivers take turns on the way out and back, and the days on site stay short, with free time every afternoon.
Programme
Day 1: Drive to the Slovenian coast
- Early-morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice, with two drivers taking turns.
- Regular breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Drive through Germany and Austria, lunch at leisure on the way.
- Evening arrival in Portorož, check-in for 4 nights and dinner.
Day 2: Piran, the Venetian town
- Short drive to Piran.
- Guided tour of the old town: Tartini Square, lanes and the terrace of St George’s Church (on request).
- Fish lunch at the harbour (on request).
- Free afternoon in Portorož, dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Koper and Izola
- Coach excursion to Koper.
- Guided tour of Koper old town and Tito Square (on request).
- In the afternoon, stroll around the small fishing port of Izola.
- Back to the hotel, dinner.
Day 4: The salt pans and the coast by boat
- Visit of the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park and its traditional salt harvesting (on request).
- Boat trip along the coast between Portorož and Piran (on request).
- Free afternoon on the promenade, farewell dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast, then return drive with two drivers.
- Lunch at leisure on the way.
- Return to your area late in the evening.
