Two Christmas markets in one day: Luxembourg City and Place d’Armes in the morning, Trier, its cathedral and the Porta Nigra in the afternoon.

Luxembourg City and Trier are only about fifty kilometres apart, close enough to enjoy two Christmas markets in a single day. In the morning, your group explores the chalets on Place d’Armes and in the upper town, then takes in the view from the Chemin de la Corniche. In the afternoon, Trier, founded by the Romans and often called Germany’s oldest city, holds its Christmas market on the Hauptmarkt and in front of the cathedral. The Porta Nigra, a Roman gate listed by UNESCO, keeps watch over the old town. A full but relaxed day out, from the departure point of your choice.

Programme

  • Early morning departure from the location of your choice, with a break on the way.
  • Arrival in Luxembourg City and free time at the Christmas market on Place d’Armes and in the upper town.
  • Walk along the Chemin de la Corniche, overlooking the Grund district.
  • Drive to Trier, about an hour away.
  • Group lunch in a restaurant in Trier’s old town (on request).
  • Guided tour of Trier: Porta Nigra, St Peter’s Cathedral and the Basilica of Constantine (on request).
  • Free time at the Christmas market on the Hauptmarkt and the cathedral square.
  • Return by coach in the evening to your region.

Good to know

  • A valid identity card is required for each participant.
  • The Christmas markets run from late November to late December; Trier’s closes a few days before Christmas: dates to be checked each year.
  • Departure and return times are adapted to your group’s pick-up point; bring warm clothes and comfortable shoes.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
