Two Christmas days as a group: Luxembourg City and its illuminated upper town, then Metz, its many market squares and its cathedral.

This short break brings together two neighbouring cities that sparkle during Advent. Luxembourg City sets up its chalets on Place d’Armes and around the upper town, above valleys and fortifications listed by UNESCO. In Metz, the Christmas markets spread from square to square, from Place Saint-Louis with its medieval arcades to Place Saint-Jacques and Place de la République. Saint-Étienne Cathedral, nicknamed “God’s lantern”, has one of the largest expanses of stained glass in Europe, including windows by Marc Chagall. A night on the spot lets you enjoy the lights without rushing.

Day 1: Luxembourg City and on to Metz

  • Morning departure from the location of your choice, with a break on the way.
  • Arrival in Luxembourg City and free time at the Christmas markets on Place d’Armes and the Knuedler.
  • Guided tour of the old town and the Chemin de la Corniche (on request).
  • Late afternoon drive to Metz (about an hour) and hotel check-in.
  • Group dinner in a restaurant in central Metz (on request).

Day 2: Metz and return

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Guided tour of Saint-Étienne Cathedral and its stained glass (on request).
  • Free time at the Christmas markets on Place Saint-Louis, Place Saint-Jacques and Place de la République.
  • Lunch at leisure in town, a chance to try quiche lorraine or a mirabelle plum treat.
  • Return journey in mid-afternoon with a break on the way, arriving in your region in the evening.

  • A valid identity card is required for each participant.
  • The Christmas markets run from late November to late December: dates to be checked each year; weekends are very busy.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
