Two Christmas days as a group: Luxembourg City, then Saarbrücken’s Christkindlmarkt, its castle and the Saar loop.

This two-day trip links the Grand Duchy with Saarland, the German region bordering Lorraine. Your group starts in Luxembourg City, with its chalets on Place d’Armes and the view from the Chemin de la Corniche. In Saarbrücken, the Christkindlmarkt fills the St. Johanner Markt, the old central square lined with cafés, famous for its flying Father Christmas who glides above the stalls. Saarbrücken Castle and the Ludwigskirche, a jewel of German Baroque, round off the visit. On the way home, a stop at the Cloef viewpoint offers one of the finest views in the region over the Saar loop.

Programme

Day 1: Luxembourg City and Saarbrücken

  • Morning departure from the location of your choice, with a break on the way.
  • Arrival in Luxembourg City and free time at the Christmas market on Place d’Armes and in the upper town.
  • Group lunch in a restaurant in the upper town (on request).
  • Drive to Saarbrücken (about 1 hour 15 minutes) and hotel check-in.
  • Free evening at the Christkindlmarkt on the St. Johanner Markt.

Day 2: Saarbrücken, the Saar loop and return

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Guided tour of Saarbrücken: castle, Ludwigsplatz and Ludwigskirche (on request).
  • Some last free time at the Christmas market.
  • Stop at the Cloef viewpoint above the Saar loop near Mettlach (on request).
  • Return journey with regular breaks, arriving in your region in the evening.

Good to know

  • A valid identity card is required for each participant.
  • The Christmas markets run from late November to late December: dates to be checked each year; the Cloef viewpoint is reached by a short walk.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
