Two Christmas days for your group: the Liège Christmas Village and its pékèt, then the Monschau market in the Rur valley.

This two-day trip pairs a lively city with a fairy-tale village. In Liège, the Christmas Village, one of the oldest in Belgium, stretches its chalets from Place Saint-Lambert to Place du Marché, between the Palace of the Prince-Bishops, the Perron and little glasses of pékèt. The next day, an hour’s drive takes you to Monschau in the German Eifel, where half-timbered and slate-roofed houses huddle at the bottom of the Rur valley beneath its castle. Its Christmas market, set in the lanes and small squares of the old town, is one of the most charming in the region. Clubs, associations or groups of friends from 20 participants: departure from the place of your choice, with one night in a hotel in Liège.

Programme

Day 1: Liège and its Christmas Village

  • Late-morning departure from the place of your choice.
  • Arrival in Liège and group lunch with Liège-style meatballs (on request).
  • Guided walking tour of the historic centre: Palace of the Prince-Bishops, Place du Marché, the Perron and Rue Hors-Château (on request).
  • Free time at the Christmas Village, from Place Saint-Lambert to Place du Marché, with a taste of pékèt.
  • Hotel check-in in Liège.

Day 2: Monschau and return

  • Breakfast at the hotel, then drive to Monschau in the Eifel.
  • Guided walk through the half-timbered old town along the Rur (on request).
  • Visit and tasting at Monschau’s historic mustard mill (on request).
  • Group lunch in a restaurant in the old town (on request).
  • Free time at the Christmas market, in the lanes and squares of the centre.
  • Return journey in the late afternoon, arriving back in your region in the evening.

Good to know

  • A valid identity card is required for every participant (Monschau is in Germany); departure and return times are adapted to your group’s pick-up point.
  • The Liège Christmas Village runs from late November to late December; the Monschau market is held on certain days only, usually Advent weekends: dates to be checked each year, and day 2 must fall on an opening day.
  • Bring warm clothes and good shoes: Monschau is explored on foot along steep cobbled lanes from the coach park.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
