A day on the trail of Neanderthal man, at the museum and the discovery site, followed by the Aquazoo in Düsseldorf.
In 1856, quarry workers in the Düssel valley near Düsseldorf uncovered the bones that gave Neanderthal man his name. The Neanderthal Museum in Mettmann tells the story of human evolution in a lively way, and its workshops let pupils try out Stone Age techniques. A walk then leads to the very place of the discovery. In Düsseldorf, the Aquazoo Löbbecke Museum, part aquarium and part natural history museum, extends the topic of evolution and how species adapt. A day suitable for pupils from about age 9 to secondary school, for history, science and biology lessons.
