A day in Bonn, the former capital of West Germany: the House of History, the Path of Democracy and Beethoven’s house.
From 1949 until reunification, Bonn was the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany, and the former government district still bears the traces of those years. At the House of History (Haus der Geschichte), pupils follow German history since 1945, from reconstruction and division to the Berlin Wall and reunification, through objects, films and vehicles. The Path of Democracy then takes them past the places where Parliament and the Chancellery once sat. The day ends at the house where Beethoven was born in 1770, and mainly suits history, citizenship and music lessons in secondary school.
