Seven days of nature in Krkonoše National Park: Sněžka summit, the source of the Elbe, a treetop walk and the Adršpach rocks.
The Giant Mountains (Krkonoše), on the Polish border, form the oldest Czech national park and include the country’s highest point, Sněžka (1,603 m). Pupils ride the cable car to the summit from Pec pod Sněžkou, then hike towards the source of the Elbe, the river that later crosses Germany to the North Sea. The Krkonoše Museum in Vrchlabí presents the wildlife, plants and altitude zones of mountain vegetation, which the class then observes in the field. The Adršpach rocks, a true sandstone town, and the treetop walk at Janské Lázně round off this active stay. This tour suits pupils from the last years of primary school to secondary school, for science, geography and physical education.
