Five days in northern Bohemia: the iQLANDIA science centre, Ještěd tower, Liberec Zoo and the rocks of the Bohemian Paradise.

Liberec, at the foot of the Jizera Mountains, combines science and nature in a varied stay. At the iQLANDIA science centre, pupils explore physics, chemistry and the human body through interactive exhibitions. Ještěd tower, a transmitter and hotel on the mountain top, is a symbol of 1960s Czech architecture and offers a wide panorama. The Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj), the country’s first protected landscape area, reveals its sandstone rock towns at Prachov and the ruins of Trosky Castle. Liberec Zoo, the oldest in the Czech lands, rounds off the tour; this trip suits pupils from the middle of primary school to the first years of secondary school.

Programme

Day 1: Journey to Liberec

  • Departure from your school at the agreed time.
  • Drive to Liberec with two drivers on board; a break of at least 30 minutes every 3 hours of driving.
  • Arrival in the late afternoon, check-in at the accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: iQLANDIA and Ještěd

  • Breakfast at the accommodation.
  • Day at the iQLANDIA science centre, with planetarium (on request).
  • Cable car ride to the summit of Ještěd (on request).
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the accommodation.

Day 3: The Bohemian Paradise

  • Breakfast at the accommodation.
  • Exploring the Prachov rocks (site entrance) (on request).
  • Visit to the ruins of Trosky Castle (on request).
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the accommodation.

Day 4: Liberec and its zoo

  • Breakfast at the accommodation.
  • Walk in the centre of Liberec and on the town hall square.
  • Visit to Liberec Zoo (on request).
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the accommodation.

Day 5: Return to Belgium

  • Breakfast at the accommodation.
  • Return journey with two drivers on board and regular breaks (at least 30 minutes every 3 hours).
  • Arrival back at school in the evening.

Good to know

  • Identity card (Kids-ID for children under 12) and parental consent to travel abroad are required for every pupil.
  • Bring the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC); currency: Czech koruna (CZK), euros are not accepted everywhere.
  • The Prachov rocks and Trosky Castle are mainly open from April to October (check dates); walking shoes and rain gear recommended.
  • Times are adapted to your school; pupils remain supervised by their teachers, while our drivers ensure safe transport.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
