Peñíscola for groups: Costa del Azahar, Valencia and Morella (12 days)

Day 1: Departure from Belgium

• Departure in the late afternoon from the place of your choice.
• Overnight journey to Spain with two drivers on board (double crew): no more than 3 hours of driving, then a 30-minute break.
• Alternative with an overnight stop on the way, outbound and return (on request).

Day 2: Arrival in Peñíscola

• Arrival in the late morning and check-in at a 3-star hotel near the beach for 9 nights, on a half-board basis.
• Free afternoon to rest after the journey and discover the beach.
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Peñíscola, the town on the rock

• Walk up into the fortified old town with its whitewashed lanes.
• Visit to the castle of Pope Luna, last residence of the antipope Benedict XIII (on request).
• Free afternoon on the North Beach.

Day 4: Valencia

• Drive to Valencia (about 1 hour 45 minutes).
• Panoramic tour to the City of Arts and Sciences, in the former bed of the River Turia.
• Walk through the historic centre: the cathedral and its bell tower, the Micalet, the UNESCO-listed Silk Exchange and the Central Market.
• Lunch of Valencian paella in a restaurant in the centre (on request).
• Return in the late afternoon.

Day 5: Free day in Peñíscola

• Free day for the beach, the seafront promenade or the old town, at your own pace (drivers’ rest day, no coach).

Day 6: Morella, the fortified town

• Drive through the hinterland to Morella (about 1 hour 15 minutes).
• Discovery of the walled town crowned by its castle, and its arcaded main street.
• Visit to Morella castle (on request).
• Free time to taste flaó, the town’s traditional pastry, then return to Peñíscola.

Day 7: The Ebro Delta

• Drive to the Ebro Delta (about 1 hour), a landscape of rice fields, lagoons and birds.
• Boat trip to the mouth of the river (on request).
• On the way back, stop in Tortosa: the cathedral and the castle of La Suda.

Day 8: Free day in Peñíscola

• Free day for the beach, the seafront promenade or the old town, at your own pace (drivers’ rest day, no coach).

Day 9: Vinaròs and the coast

• Morning at the fishing port of Vinaròs and on its seafront promenade (about 20 minutes’ drive).
• Fish and seafood lunch in a harbour restaurant (on request).
• Free afternoon in Peñíscola.

Day 10: Sagunto

• Drive to Sagunto (about 1 hour 30 minutes).
• Climb to the vast castle overlooking the town and the coastal plain.
• Visit to the Roman theatre of Sagunto (on request).
• Return to Peñíscola in mid-afternoon and last evening at the hotel.

Day 11: Journey home

• Breakfast at the hotel and check-out.
• Departure in the late morning and overnight journey with a double crew, with a break of at least 30 minutes every 3 hours of driving.

Day 12: Back in Belgium

• Arrival in your home area in the morning.
