A 10-day stay in Lignano Sabbiadoro for your group: 7 nights in Friuli, Trieste, Miramare, Cividale and Aquileia.

Lignano Sabbiadoro, the “town of golden sand”, is the great seaside resort of Friuli, on a peninsula between the Adriatic Sea and the Marano lagoon. Its Terrazza a Mare, set on the beach, is its emblem. From your half-board hotel, your group sets out to discover Trieste, a city of cafés and palaces facing the sea, and the white castle of Miramare built for Archduke Maximilian. Cividale del Friuli and its Lombard Tempietto, Udine, Aquileia and the Grado lagoon complete the programme, with two free days for the beach or a boat trip to Venice. Associations, clubs, societies or groups of friends from 20 participants, departing from the place of your choice.

Programme

Day 1: Departure from Belgium

  • Departure in the late afternoon from the place of your choice.
  • Overnight journey to Italy with two drivers on board (double crew): no more than 3 hours of driving, then a 30-minute break.
  • Alternative with an overnight stop on the way, outbound and return (on request).

Day 2: Arrival in Lignano

  • Arrival in the late morning and check-in at a 3-star hotel near the beach for 7 nights, on a half-board basis.
  • Free afternoon to rest after the journey and discover the beach.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Lignano Sabbiadoro

  • Free morning on the golden sandy beach.
  • Walk to the Terrazza a Mare, the emblem of the resort, and through the shopping streets.
  • Free afternoon.

Day 4: Miramare and Trieste

  • Drive to Miramare Castle (about 1 hour 15 minutes).
  • Visit to Miramare Castle, built for Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg (on request).
  • Stroll in the park by the sea.
  • In the afternoon, Trieste: Piazza Unità d’Italia opening onto the sea, the Grand Canal and historic cafés.
  • Return to Lignano in the late afternoon.

Day 5: Free day in Lignano

  • Free day for the beach, the seafront promenade or the old town, at your own pace (drivers’ rest day, no coach).

Day 6: Cividale del Friuli and Udine

  • Drive to Cividale del Friuli (about 1 hour 15 minutes), a small Lombard town on the UNESCO list.
  • Walk to the Devil’s Bridge above the green waters of the Natisone.
  • Visit to the Tempietto Longobardo (on request).
  • In the afternoon, Udine: Piazza della Libertà and the Venetian loggia, then return to Lignano.

Day 7: Aquileia and Grado

  • Drive to Aquileia (about 40 minutes).
  • Free visit to the basilica and its early Christian mosaic floor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Guided tour of the Roman excavations of Aquileia (on request).
  • In the afternoon, Grado, a small fishing town on the lagoon, then return to Lignano.

Day 8: Free day or Venice by boat

  • Free day in Lignano (drivers’ rest day, no coach).
  • Day trip by boat from Lignano to Venice (on request).

Day 9: Journey home

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check-out.
  • Departure in the late morning and overnight journey with a double crew, with a break of at least 30 minutes every 3 hours of driving.

Day 10: Back in Belgium

  • Arrival in your home area in the morning.

Good to know

  • Departure and return times are adapted to your group’s pick-up point; bring a small pillow and comfortable clothes for the overnight journey.

  • Boats from Lignano to Venice run in season, on a timetable to be checked each year.
  • Swimwear, towel, sun cream and walking shoes; stays possible from May to September, currency: euro.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays.
