Six days in eastern Slovenia: Roman Ptuj, Maribor and its old vine, Celje, a coal mine and Ljubljana.
This tour takes pupils off the beaten track to eastern Slovenia. In Ptuj, the oldest town in the country, they go back to Roman times, then discover the medieval history of the Counts of Celje, who for a time rivalled the Habsburgs. In Velenje, the visit of the museum and old coal mine deals with the work of miners and the question of energy. The Logar Valley, carved by glaciers, offers a fine mountain field trip before a day on foot in the capital, Ljubljana. A programme for history, geography and science lessons in the upper years of secondary school.
