Rotterdam in festive mood: Markthal, Erasmus Bridge and a harbour cruise, then Delfshaven and the giant windmills of Schiedam.

Rotterdam surprises with its bold architecture, and Advent gives it a festive air with lights and Christmas events. Your group discovers the Markthal, a huge covered market hall with a colourful painted ceiling, the cube houses and the Erasmus Bridge, and can board a cruise through one of the largest ports in the world, warm and comfortable on board. The next day, Delfshaven, a small historic quarter spared by the war, recalls the departure of the Pilgrim Fathers, and Schiedam lines its canals with the tallest traditional windmills in the world. The town of jenever also offers a tasting for those who wish. Drives are short and the pace gentle, with just one hotel night.

Programme

Day 1: Rotterdam

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice; our drivers drive for no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Coffee break on the way.
  • Arrival in Rotterdam in the late morning.
  • Seated lunch at the Markthal or in the centre (on request).
  • Rotterdam harbour cruise (on request).
  • Stroll near the cube houses and the Erasmus Bridge, then free time at the Christmas market.
  • Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Delfshaven, Schiedam and return

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Stroll through the old quarter of Delfshaven.
  • Drive to Schiedam and stroll along the canals and the great windmills.
  • Visit to the Jenevermuseum with a jenever tasting (on request).
  • Seated lunch in Schiedam (on request).
  • Return journey with regular breaks, arriving back in your region in the evening.

  • Valid identity card and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each participant.
  • Times adapted to your group’s pick-up point; from 20 participants, on the date of your choice, price on quotation. Wheelchairs and reduced mobility: please let us know when booking.
  • Christmas markets and events in the Netherlands take place from late November to late December, to be checked each year: some last only a few days; bring warm clothing. Easy walking on flat ground; the harbour boat is boarded via a gangway.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
