Three days between Franche-Comté and Alsace: the Christmas Lights of Montbéliard, the Lion of Belfort and the Mulhouse Christmas market.

Less famous than Strasbourg’s, the Christmas markets of Montbéliard and Mulhouse charm with their warm atmosphere and human scale. In Montbéliard, former principality of the Dukes of Württemberg, the “Lumières de Noël” set up around the Saint-Martin temple, one of the oldest Protestant churches in France, at the foot of the castle. The next day, a short stop in Belfort lets you admire the Lion sculpted by Bartholdi from the foot of the citadel, before continuing to Mulhouse. Every year the city creates an original “Christmas fabric” that decorates the market on Place de la Réunion, a reminder of its textile past. Your group spends two nights in the same hotel, with short drives between stops.

Day 1: Journey to Montbéliard

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice, at a time suited to your region.
  • Comfortable coach journey: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Free lunch on the way.
  • Arrival in Montbéliard in the late afternoon and check-in at the hotel for 2 nights.
  • Free evening at the Christmas Lights, around the Saint-Martin temple and in the illuminated streets.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Belfort and Mulhouse

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Short drive to Belfort and stop to admire Bartholdi’s Lion.
  • Visit of the Belfort citadel (on request).
  • Drive to Mulhouse (about 45 minutes).
  • Seated lunch in an Alsatian restaurant (on request).
  • Free afternoon at the Christmas market on Place de la Réunion, around the Saint-Étienne temple.
  • Visit of the Cité de l’Automobile, Schlumpf collection (on request).
  • Return to the hotel in Montbéliard.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3: Montbéliard and return

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Guided tour of the historic centre of Montbéliard and the Saint-Martin temple (on request).
  • Last stroll at the market and shopping for Franche-Comté specialities.
  • Return journey with regular breaks and free lunch on the way.
  • Return in the evening to your region.

  • Walking level: easy; flat town centres; the climb to Montbéliard castle and Belfort citadel is optional (slopes and steps). Wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility: please let us know when booking.
  • Christmas markets: from late November to late December, to be checked each year; bring warm clothing.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
