Two days in Lorraine during Advent: the Christmas markets of Metz and its cathedral, then Nancy and the illuminated Place Stanislas.

Lorraine is the land of Saint Nicholas, and its towns are in festive mood from late November. In Metz, several Christmas markets are spread across the squares of the centre, at the foot of Saint-Étienne Cathedral, nicknamed the “Good Lord’s Lantern” for its vast expanses of stained glass. The next day, Nancy reveals Place Stanislas, an 18th-century ensemble listed by UNESCO, with its gilded gates and Christmas chalets. Distances are short, the hotel is central and a little train can replace walking in Metz. A luminous getaway, about two and a half hours from Liège.

Day 1: Metz, its markets and cathedral

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice, at a time suited to your region.
  • Comfortable coach journey with breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in Metz in the late morning and lunch booked in a restaurant in the centre (on request).
  • Guided tour of Saint-Étienne Cathedral and its stained glass (on request).
  • Tour of the illuminated centre by little train (on request).
  • Free time at the Christmas markets on the town-centre squares.
  • Check-in at the hotel in Metz or Nancy, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Nancy and Place Stanislas

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Guided tour of Nancy: Place Stanislas, Place de la Carrière and the old town (on request).
  • Free time at the Christmas market and, depending on the dates, the Saint Nicholas festivities.
  • Taste bergamots and macarons of Nancy, the town’s specialities.
  • Return journey in the mid-afternoon.
  • Return in the evening to your region.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
